Monticello man arrested on felony drug charges

MONTICELLO – A 40-year-old Monticello man was arrested on Tuesday
on felony charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Monticello Village Police said James Grantham, also known as “Snoop,”
was also charged with misdemeanor drug possession, criminal use of drug
paraphernalia and violations of unlawful possession of marijuana and for
having an open container of alcohol in a public place.

Officers spotted Grantham at 1 p.m. with an open can of beer on Broadway.
When they interviewed him, they found him in possession of four plastic
baggies with cocaine and another baggie with crack cocaine weighing three
grams, 11 glassine envelopes of heroin and a small amount of marijuana.

A search of Grantham’s residence resulted in another 300 glassine
envelopes of heroin, 16 baggies of packaged cocaine weighing 12.9 grams,
digital scales, packaging materials and $1,900 in cash. The street value
of the drugs was $8,000.

Grantham was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
