Saugerties man accused of pointing gun at restaurant patrons

SAUGERTIES – A Saugerties man, who according to witnesses became abusive while inside a local restaurant and then retrieved a gun from his car and began waiving it at a patron in the parking lot, was taken into custody by Saugerties Police.
Eduardo Trujillo, 26, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest and menacing, all as misdemeanors.  He was taken to the Health Alliance Hospital Kingston Campus for mental health evaluation following the incident on Monday.
Police were called to the Hot Rocks Steak House on Route 9W in Saugerties for a report of an altercation and when officers arrived, Trujillo has returned the gun to his car and was about to leave.  He became abusive to the officers, spitting on them and became physically confrontational. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle.
The weapon turned out to be a pellet gun replica of a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun.
