TOWN OF CRAWFORD – The two fugitives wanted in Tennessee for attempted murder remain at large and while they were spotted over the weekend across the Orange County border in Pike County, Pennsylvania, they may have circled back.
Police Monday searched the Youngblood and Collabar Road area of the Town of Crawford following a report of a possible burglary.
Crawford Police Chief Dominick Blasko said they searched several locations and did not find anyone or any signs of disturbance.
“We understand that everyone is concerned,” the chief wrote on Facebook. “The situation is ongoing and it is hard to share updated information as quickly as you want it. To make matters more difficult there have been numerous sightings in several states.”
Blasko said everyone should “relax and take a deep breath. Rumors and paranoia are not helping.”  He said people should go about their “normal personal security measures that you do on a daily basis. Lock your homes and your vehicles.”
Jarret Heitmann, 24, and Makayla Stillwell, 22, were allegedly involved in the Tennessee crimes early last week. Their car was first spotted in Pine Bush last Friday, prompting a large manhunt that traced them to Bloomingburg and a residential burglary in which the homeowner was assaulted and a rifle was taken.
If anyone sees any suspicious activity or spots the two suspects, they are urged to call the State Police at 845-344-5300.
