ELLENVILLE – An Ellenville man is under arrest after he allegedly broke into a village woman’s apartment at 3:30 Saturday morning and attacked her in her bed. The 40-year-old woman fought him off and the man, Jean Carlos Colon, 23, fled when one of the woman’s two young daughters heard her mother’s screams and called out for her.
Village Police identified Colon and within two hours, he was arrested at the bus stop on Canal Street and charged with rape, burglary, attempted criminal sexual act, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.  He is in the Dutchess County jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond.
The victim was treated and released at a Kingston hospital.
Colon was arrested in May on a charge that he sodomized a woman he pulled into an alley near the Center Street taxi stand. The grand jury issued a no-bill in the case, failing to indict him on the charges, said Ellenville Police Chief Phillip Mattracion.
