Governor appoints Lhota as chairman of MTA

NEW YORK – Governor Cuomo appointed Joseph Lhota as chairman of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. At a salary of $1 per year, Lhota will direct the executive management team to address the issues facing the MTA. He will delegate CEO duties to a permanent executive officer, position that has yet to be filled.
Lhota previously served as the chairman of the board and CEO of the MTA. He will continue to serve as senior vice president, vice dean and chief of staff at NYU Langone Medical Center.
Metro-North Railroad, which serves the Mid-Hudson Valley, is part of the MTA system.
