Fundraiser honors memory of NYPD Officer Stephen Driscoll

BREWSTER – The weatherman cooperated with pleasant summer conditions
when the Putnam County Stephen Driscoll Chapter of the Fraternal Order
of Police hosted its annual pig roast and clam bake at the Brewster Elks
Club.
A crowd estimated at more than 200 was on hand for the fundraising event Saturday that assisted the local FOP lodge named in memory of September 11 hero NYPD Emergency Services Unit member Stephen Driscoll provide money for scholarships and other charitable causes countywide.
Driscoll, a resident of Lake Carmel, perished along with seven other Putnam residents on that fateful morning at Ground Zero almost 16 years ago.
The daylong event consisted of a golf tourney, family swimming, fellowship and outstanding food.
The highlight came when State Senator Terrence Murphy and Assemblyman Kevin Byrne presented a check for $1,000 to the chapter for use by the Driscoll Lodge Pipe Band.
Putnam’s two elected officials garnered the funds through the American-Irish Legislators Society as the legislative session concluded last week.
