Rescue cargo net needed to remove obese woman from apartment

TOWN OF WALLKILL – Silver Lake firefighters had to recruit the aid of the Washingtonville Fire Department and its rescue cargo net to safely remove an obese woman from an apartment and transport her to the hospital via ambulance.
Silver Lake Fire Chief Joe Morstatt said members were dispatched to an address on Greencrest Drive at around 1 p.m. on Tuesday for a report of a patient who was in stable condition, was not ambulatory and needed to be brought to the hospital.
Washingtonville firefighters were called in to use their special device to carefully remove the woman after apartment walls were reportedly removed to facilitate her transfer to the ambulance.
