Driscoll: “Homage to our past”

TOWN OF ROCKLAND – The first covered bridge over the Beaverkill,
in a scenic remote spot several miles north of Livingston Manor, was built
in the Civil War era.
For the past two years, a meticulous construction project produced a
near exact replica, now open to traffic.

The dedication was held this morning, with over 100 on hand, including
state, county and officials, and environmentalists.

State DOT Commissioner Matthew Driscoll called a worthy “homage
to our past.”
