Monticello parolee accused of robbing elderly man

MONTICELLO – A Monticello resident is in the Sullivan County Jail without bail for allegedly robbing a 75-year-old Monticello man of his wallet containing $200.
Keith Jackson, 28, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly knocking the victim to the ground and forcibly robbing him on Wednesday, June 14. The 4:30 p.m. attack occurred in the parking lot of the CITGO convenience store on Forestburg Road in Monticello.
The victim was transported to Catskill Regional Medical Center by Mobile Medic Ambulance for injuries to his head, shoulder and back.
Jackson was also charged with petit larceny for another incident at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 11 at the Family Dollar Store on East Broadway in Monticello. He allegedly entered the store and when the cashier opened the register for a transaction, he reached over the counter and stole $55 before running out of the store.
In both incidents, Monticello Police used video surveillance to identify Jackson.
Jackson was charged with the felonies of robbery and assault, violation of parole and petit larceny. He is on parole until October 2020 for a 2010 conviction of felony assault.
Monticello Police were assisted in Tuesday’s arrest by Liberty Village Police.
