WHITE PLAINS – A former Minisink Valley Central School District bus driver was sentenced to seven years in federal prison for possession and distribution of child pornography.
From March 2012 to March 2014, Matthew Hamill, 26, of Wurtsboro, traded images and videos of child pornography by email. He continued to possess child pornography on his computer through August 2015, by which time he had become a school bus driver in Minisink.
After Hamill became aware of the federal investigation into the case, he attempted to delete evidence of the crime. A forensic examination of his computer, which was seized when authorities executed a search warrant at his residence, recovered 493 child pornography images. A review of his emails showed he had sent 94 attaching a total of 135 images and 14 videos of child pornography.
Hamill, who has a second address in Garner, North Carolina, was also sentenced to five years of supervised release and was also ordered to pay $15,000 in restitution to victims of his crime.
