Man shot himself in front of police officer

STONY POINT – The state
parks department Tuesday confirmed that the man who was shot and died
in Strong Point on Monday, in fact, killed himself.

The victim, who police did not immediately identify, told a responding
state park police officer that he was going to kill himself at a church
on St. John’s Road in Stony Point.

With the officer present, the man committed suicide, the spokesman said.
