SAUGERTIES – Republicans Donald Tucker and Joe Roberti, Jr., have announced that they are running for the Saugerties Town Board in the fall elections. If elected, they pledged to use their combined experience “to end wasteful spending and seek new ways to reduce property taxes.”
Tucker is a more than 50-year-resident of Saugerties who began a career
in law enforcement in 1973 as a dispatcher for the village police department
and retired from the town department this past January.  He served
on the Saugerties Village Board from 1986 through 2000 and for nine years
on the Saugerties Central School District Board of Education, where he
was president for two years.
Roberti was an Ulster County legislator from 1996 through 2009. He is also co-founder and former president of the Friends of Saugerties Library.
