TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Fairview firefighters responded early Saturday afternoon to an automatic alarm of fire at MidHudson Regional Hospital in the Town of Poughkeepsie and determined it to be smoke condition in the facility.
Firefighters found the condition in the common area of the building on several floors in the Cooke wing, said Fire Chief Christopher Maeder.
The fire was located and extinguished. Air monitoring for potentially dangerous gases was conducted with nothing found.
The hospital did not go on diversion during the incident and it did not require relocation of patients. Damage was kept to a minimum.
Assisting at the scene were the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department and Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response.
There were no reports of injuries to firefighters or staff and patients. All units cleared the scene in less than two hours.
