SLOATSBURG – State Police
are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident on the southbound Thruway
near the Ramapo Rest Area in Sloatsburg.
A New York City man, identified as Paul Peacock, 54, was struck by an
unknown vehicle, most likely a tractor-trailer, around 4 a.m. as he walked
across the highway, police said.
Troopers said it is unclear why he was walking on the highway.
The investigation continued throughout the day and anyone with information
or who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call the State Police
at 845-364-9424.
