WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers woman was sentenced to 3 ½ years in state prison on Thursday based on her guilty plea of attempted assault for shooting her husband in the head.
On November 14, 2013 at about 4 a.m., the victim, Kenneth Dearden, woke up with a pain on the left side of his head. He was taken to the hospital where it was determined he had been shot. He underwent surgery to remove a .22 caliber bullet from his jaw.
Following investigation, Emily Dearden, 49, was arrested on November 21, 2014.
At the time of the shooting, the couple’s children were sleeping only a few feet away.
