GOSHEN – Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler is going to investigate the voter registration of Monroe Town Justice Lurlyn Winchester.
She was arrested on Wednesday by federal authorities on charges of making false statements to a mortgage lending business and impeding, obstructing or influencing the investigation.
Winchester, 58, was elected a Monroe town justice while living in New City. She reported that she was living at a Monroe address and registered to vote with the Orange County Board of Elections.
Base on that transaction, Hoovler said on Thursday that his office is investigating. Orange County Democratic Elections Commissioner Susan Bahren said she would communicate with the state Board of Elections to determine what cause of action the local office should take.
