POUGHKEEPSIE – Family Services has named Danny Hairston as the program coordinator for the SNUG Program, an evidence-based violence prevention initiative focused on youths who are at risk for involvement with gun violence in the City of Poughkeepsie.
SNUG is GUNS spelled backwards.
Hairston will be responsible for implementing a coordinated, community-based
violence reduction strategy that identifies, engages and assists high-risk
individuals and sponsors neighborhood events and public education activities,
including picnics, marches, rallies and peace vigils, to empower the community.
Hairston comes to his new role after working as program director with Newburgh’s Boys and Girls Club of America and also worked several years with City of Poughkeepsie youth in the school district’s 21st Century After School Program.
