KINGSTON – A man, who pled guilty to two counts of robbery in connection with two armed bank robberies, had his appeal denied.
Collin Lambert admitted robbing the Key Bank branch in the Village of Saugerties and the Chase Bank branch in the Village of New Paltz. As part of his negotiated plea agreement, he was required to waive his right to appeal.
As a second felony offender, he was sentenced to consecutive prison terms of three to six years and ordered to pay restitution.
On appeal, he claimed his wavier of appeal was invalid and that the consecutive sentences imposed by Ulster County Court were unduly harsh and severe.
The Appellate Division of State Supreme Court found that his waiver of appeal was knowing, voluntary and intelligent and given that his waiver was valid he was precluded from challenging his sentence.
