MONTICELLO – The murder of a Monticello man was an isolated incident, Monticello Police Chief Robert Mir said Tuesday.
The victim’s identity was released late Tuesday when his family, who is from out-of-state, was notified. Douglas Malone, 59, lived on Spring Street in Monticello. His body was found by construction workers behind 9 High Street on Saturday.
Mir said there is no connection to any other missing persons or criminal cases in neighboring jurisdiction and no further evidence or immediate concern for public safety at this time.  He chief said rumors circulating on Facebook are false.
