SAUGERTIES – Residents
of the Malden-West Camp area of the Town of Saugerties were advised Tuesday
evening to close their windows as the result of a chemical leak from a
train.

Town Police issued the health alert due to leaking hydrochloric acid.

About an hour later, the police said CSX Hazmat reported the train was
no longer leaking and there was no need to further shelter in place.

Saugerties Police are currently conducting an investigation with the railroad
to determine the nature of the release.
