The boat – never missing

RED HOOK – A Red Hook man is charged with felony insurance fraud and falsifying business records as well as a misdemeanor of falsely reporting an incident in connection with his 37-foot Boston Whaler powerboat.
State Police said Robert Jacob Bump, 43, reported to Red Hook Village Police that his boat had drifted away from its mooring on the Hudson River. An insurance claim was made on the board and Bump received some $480,000.  An investigation revealed the boat was never missing and was located this past May in Lindenhurst, New York, while still in Bump’s possession.
Bump was released on his own recognizance pending a future court appearance in Red Hook.
