Armed robbers steal $4,000 worth of cell phones

TOWN OF NEWBURGH – Two
men, one armed with a semi-automatic handgun, held up the lone employee
of the Verizon Wireless store in the Mid-Valley Mall on North Plank Road
on Thursday and made off with cell phones worth some $4,000.

Newburgh Town Police said one suspect escorted the worker to the rear
stockroom while the other bandit with a large duffel bag and backpack
went to the storeroom.

The men fled toward the City of Newburgh in a silver or gray 2015 to 2017
Toyota Camry.

The suspect with the gun was described as a heavyset black man, about
200 pounds, in his 30s wearing dark clothes, a ski mask, white gloves,
and blue or purple boots.

The other suspect was described as a thin black man, about 150 pounds,
in his 20s. He was wearing a ski mask and white gloves.

Police said similar incidents have been reported in the Westchester County
area. Any agency or officer with information about similar incidents is
asked to call the Newburgh Town Police Detective Division at 845-564-1100.
