STEWART AIRPORT – The first European flights aboard Norwegian Air
from Stewart are still two weeks away, but the airline on Wednesday announced
it will expand service to two cities.
Its Dublin service, which is to begin on July 1, will increase from the
initially announced three flights per week to six during the winter season
and its service to Bergen, Norway will be extended to the winter season
with the exception of January, a typically bad weather month in Europe.
The additional service is as a result of high demand in pre-bookings.
Some 60 percent of all seats are already booked on all flights both to
and from Europe.
Norwegian spokeswoman Real Hamilton-Romeo said the service to Scotland,
Ireland, Northern Ireland and Norway is being promoted in Europe.
“We have been working with the I Love New York team and they have
teams in Europe and we have been working with them to make sure that we
are marketing, not just the service, but all of the attractions and beautiful
areas in the Hudson Valley that people can see here in New York,”
she said.
Typically the flights will depart from Stewart around 9:30 p.m. and arrive
in Europe between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. the following day.
Meals and snacks will be available for purchase and Hamilton-Romeo suggested
travelers pre-purchase them.
