WASHINGTON – The final adopted federal budget later this year is not going to look anything like President Trump’s proposed spending plan, said fellow Republican Congressman John Faso (R, NY-19).
Faso said on the domestic side alone, the president’s budget “went too far,” and he does not believe it will garner much support from Democrats or Republicans in Congress.
“Like any president’s budget, it is a proposal and the Congress is going to work its will in terms of fashioning a budget proposal,” Faso said, noting he is on the budget committee. “I expect there will be major changes to the president’s proposal in many areas.”
The federal spending plan faces months of debate in both houses of Congress.
