MIDDLETOWN – A Washingtonville school teacher who lives in Middletown has announced his intention to run for the city’s common council this fall.
Sparrow Tobin, a Democrat, will seek a fourth ward seat that was recently filled when Mayor Joseph DeStefano appointed political newcomer Vanessa Morales-Cid.
Tobin said he wants to “break a long streak of uncontested election with candidates appointed by political insiders.”  He said if elected, he will focus on “making Middletown cleaner, safer, and more affordable.”  He also listed as concerns that economic development on Dolson Avenue “has stagnated and the opioid crisis [is] fueling street crime.”
