NEWBURGH – Now that the
City of Middletown’s $10 million state economic development package
has been approved by Albany, a round two of the 10-region contest will
be held.
Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress President Jonathan Drapkin is encouraging all urban communities in the region to consider applying – some 35 submitted proposals last year.
“I think that points to the fact that so many communities felt that the infusion of the money and the planning is something that could change the course and direction of the revitalization of their urban area. It wasn’t limited to cities,” Dapkin said.
The focus of economic development, for the most part in recent years,
has been on Hudson Valley cities with many undergoing a renaissance with
renewed residential and commercial growth.
