MIDDLETOWN – Long-term Orange County Legislator Jeffrey Berkman announced he will not seek re-election this fall. He is the latest incumbent lawmaker who will not run again.
Berkman said he still has much on his agenda that he would like to accomplish this year including his recommended charter changes.
“Term limits and inspector general, committing to only one elected position at a time, upgrading the Green Committee to make it a full statutory committee,” he listed among his priorities.
Berkman is a member of the Democratic minority on the legislature. Minority Leader Matthew Turnbull is also not seeking re-election.  Republican Majority Leader Melissa Bonacic announced months ago she would not run again in November.
