TOWN OF WALLKILL – Two firefighters sustained smoke inhalation from a fire that burned at the President Container company facility off Ballard Road in the Town of Wallkill Thursday morning.
The two-alarm fire was fueled by the corrugated cardboard boxes the facility manufactures, said Orange County Fire Coordinator Vini Tankasali.
“The fire department encountered numerous bails of corrugated cardboard on fire in the building,” Tankasali said. “Mechanicstown Fire Department extinguished the fire and was assisted by about eight other fire departments. The building itself received some minor structural damage.”
Mechanicstown firefighters were aided by several other Orange County departments to fight the fire that spread to the roof. They included Pocatello, Howells, Goshen, Washingtonville, Campbell Hall, Montgomery and Chester. Mobile Life Support Services was also on the scene.
