Man killed by train was Philmont resident

STOCKPORT – The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man who was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Tuesday morning as Matthew Harris, 42, of Philmont.
An autopsy determined the cause of death to be multiple injuries from the impact of the train, Sheriff David Bartlett said.
At this time the death does not appear to be suspicious; however, sheriff’s investigators are continuing to look into the incident.
