TOWN OF DEERPARK – The new owner of a motel on Greenville Turnpike in the Town of Deerpark wants to convert it to an assisted living center.
To help cover the expense, the buyer is seeking financial assistance from the Orange County Industrial Development Agency.
“It has received its final approval, which it means it can move onto closing,” said IDA Chief Operating Officer, Laurie Villasuso.  “It is a $14 million project. They are looking for the typical incentives, PILOT, sales and use tax and mortgage recording tax.”
The payments-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement will be for a 10-yer period.
The facility, when converted, it expected to employ 66 people.
