MONTICELLO – Sullivan County officials hope their decades-long dilemma over replacing a crumbling old jail will end, in 16 months.
Project Manager Nate Engle, of LeChase Construction, told county legislators on Thursday that the way everything is coming together with all of the contractors, late summer 2018 is doable.
“Targeting substantial completion very late in the summer; September 5th is the current date, which is ahead of their contractual schedule,” Engle said.
Over 28,000 man-hours have been worked at the site since groundbreaking six months ago.  Most of the footprint is now visible and some steel framework recently started going up for the road patrol portion of the project.
Engle said part of the success so far are the project labor agreements put in place prior to construction start.
