Sullivan County man convicted on federal murder, robbery charges

WHITE PLAINS – A South Fallsburg man was convicted in White Plains federal court on Tuesday of robbing and murdering a Swan Lake man on October 12, 2015.
Jeffrey Herring, 27, was a member of the Bloods gang Askari. Herring,
along with other gang members, murdered Michael Northcote, 34, who was
found dead in a residence on Cohen and Cohen Road in the Town of Bethel.
The feds credited their partnership with Sullivan County District Attorney James Farrell for cracking this and other cases.
Herring was convicted of conspiracy to commit robbery, which carries up to 20 years in prison; robbery, which carries up to 20 years; one count of murder through the use of a firearm, which carries from 10 years to life in prison; conspiring to violate the racketeering laws, which carries up to 20 years in prison; and murder in aid of racketeering, which carries up to life in prison.  He will be sentenced on the convictions in November.
The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office first investigated Northcote’s murder.  On February 16, Herring, Deanna Duncan, William Lewis and Mark Mack were arrested in connection with the crimes.
