POUGHKEEPSIE – Construction continues on the new Vassar Brothers Medical Center Pavilion and on Tuesday, hospital President Ann McMackin announced an eighth floor is going to be added to the facility.
She told the annual President’s Breakfast that the plans have already
been presented to Scenic Hudson and the waterfront commission, which have
signed off on it. The City of Poughkeepsie Planning Board is reviewing
the plans.
McMackin said they have a general idea as to what they want to put on that additional space.
“Most like (there will be) additional medical-surgical. Initially we will just shell it and as we get closer we will decide if it is medical-surgical or some other specialty care,” she said.
The pavilion is scheduled to open in 2019.
McMackin also told the community leaders at the event that because of added services and programs at Vassar, outmigration of patients has been reduced where more area residents are seeking care locally.
Vassar is part of the Health Quest system, which includes Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck and Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel. Beginning in July, Sharon Hospital in Connecticut will join the Health Quest family.
