KINGSTON – Republican Congressman John Faso (R, NY-19), Tuesday, criticized Democratic Representative Sean Patrick Maloney (D, NY-18) for staging an anti-Republican rally over Trumpcare in Faso’s district.
Maloney fired up some 400 attendees Monday night, calling out Faso for not showing up and explaining his vote in favor of dismantling Obamacare.
Faso said on Tuesday that Maloney’s “showboating” came just two weeks after they both pledged bipartisanship to benefit residents of the Hudson Valley.
Faso said Maloney’s rally “shows the insincerity of his notion about bipartisanship. In actuality he is a hyper-partisan and very liberal, who masquerades as a moderate.”
Faso also said Democrats’ contention that Trumpcare will do away with coverage for pre-existing conditions is false.
“The ACA has done some good things for many people and I recognize that, but it has also dramatically increased premiums and deductibles for many people as well, and what we are trying to do is prevent the system from completely unraveling and to fix it,” Faso said. “The Democrats have offered not a single constructive suggestion to their notion that we should save the ACA, but they have offered nothing that will effectuate that. I am hopeful that will change.”
The House of Representatives last week voted to dismantle Obamacare. The Senate will take it up next and is expected to come up with a different version, which would then need to be reconciled with the House version.
