POUGHKEEPSIE – Two eighth grade students, who attend Faith Christian Academy, were named as the winners of the “Be Tick Free!” video competition sponsored by the Dutchess County Tick Task Force and the county government.
David Leino and DeAngelo Abadsidis were named. The goal of the contest was for students to learn how to prevent Lyme and other tick-borne diseases, and then use their digital media skills to teach others what they learned.
Middle and high school students were asked to create a 30- or 60-second live action or computer animated public service announcement on how to prevent tick-borne disease.
The mission of the county’s Tick Task Force is to develop long-term goals and make recommendations to the county legislature in the efforts of understanding and safely controlling tickets and reducing Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases.
