POUGHKEEPSIE – Cynthia Ruiz, the long-time director of public transit
for Dutchess County, is retiring this month.
County Public Works Commissioner Robert Balkind said she will be a hard act to follow given her knowledge and expertise in the field.
“Cynthia knows public transit,” Balkind said. “She is a master at the funding, at operations, at understanding how the system works. We are going to miss her. She is a huge, critical link, not just to public works, but to all of the county, to everybody who is served by public transit.”
Prior to Ruiz working for Dutchess County, she headed the Ulster County
Area Transit system.
