TOWN OF HIGHLANDS – A fuel
oil truck carrying 2,200 gallons of fuel oil rolled over on the Route
293 ramp to Route 9W in the Town of Highlands Tuesday morning around 9
a.m. and Orange County officials were concerned that it was leaking into
a stream and could impact the Fort Montgomery area water supply.
County Executive Steven Neuhaus placed a reverse 911 call to all residents of the area advising them of the potential problem.
Until the quality of the drinking water could be confirmed, Neuhaus said the community was using other local water sources.
As of late Tuesday, there was no report of water contamination.
