MONTICELLO – Businesses small and large looking to grow should look no further than the Liberty-Thompson corridor of Sullivan County, says the president and CEO of the Sullivan County Partnership.
Marc Baez made that pitch during the County Legislature’s Community and Economic Development Committee meeting on Thursday.
“That’s the biggest area of Sullivan County that’s zoned industrial and commercial right now,” he said.  “We’ve already identified 400 plus acres in that corridor that is suitable for and available for development.”
Baez said watching what’s happening next door in Orange County and even across the Delaware River in Pike County, Pennsylvania, should be a wake-up for those pushing development in Sullivan.
“We certainly have to up our game and really start to create some of these sites and then proactively go out there,” Baez said.
Legislator Nadia Rajsz, whose district touches the eastern end of the corridor, suggested it should be extended into Mamakating and even onto Route 209.
