FALLSBURG – A Fallsburg
Town police officer is dead and the cause was initially believed as the
result of an apparent drug overdose, according to sources.
State Police said Officer Dylan Dainack, 35, was found dead in his Hurleyville home on Railroad Avenue Wednesday evening.
The investigation revealed he was on duty and had gone home during his shift for a meal break and was discovered unresponsive by his girlfriend, who called 911.
Fallsburg Town Supervisor Steven Vegliante was shaken by the officer’s death.
“The town lost a member its family.” The supervisor extended the town’s “thoughts and prayers” to Dainack’s family.
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call State Police at
Liberty at 845-292-6600.

Dainack received accolades in 2014 when he was honored as an outstanding
officer by the Monticello Elks Club.
