COPAKE – A Copake man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a burglary at a vacant home 33 Spring Street in the Town of Copake being used by the owner to store property.
Shortly after noon, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a burglary in progress where the property owner said he had confronted the suspect, Jason O’Connell, Jr., 22, who allegedly was stealing property including hunting and fishing gear. O’Connell fled after a confrontation with the homeowner.
The owner provided officers with the suspect’s license plate number and vehicle description. O’Connell was later located at his home on Robin Road in Copake and all of the stolen property was recovered.  O’Connell was sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office and State Police.
