Forshay

TOWN OF THOMPSON – Sullivan County Sheriff Michael Schiff is crediting a local resident for helping his agency solve a burglary that occurred early Monday morning.
Deputies arrested Joshua Forshay, 25, of Monticello, and charged him as a convicted felon, with the felonies of burglary, criminal possession of a weapon, grand larceny and criminal mischief, and the misdemeanor of petit larceny.
Forshay allegedly broke into a home at 689 Route 17B in the Town of Thompson and as he walked along the road near Hamilton Road, he asked another man to take rifle he had stolen from the residence.   When deputies caught up with the second man, it was determined he was not involved in the theft of the weapon, as well as ammunition, a knife, BB pistol and loose change that was stolen. Sheriff Schiff credited that second man with being cooperative and helping to solve the crime.
Deputy Christopher Valastro spotted Forshay, knew there was an outstanding Sullivan county bench warrant for his arrest, and took him into custody.
Forshay is in the Sullivan County Jail without bail.
