GOSHEN – Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler has introduced a new DA’s office smartphone app for both iPhone and Android users designed to provide the public with a direct connection to some of the resources of his office. Users can access information about the office, resources that could be useful in preventing crime and addiction, and to gain information to help fight crime.
The app has “News” and DA TV” links providing users with direct connections to written and video news about the DA’s office.
There are also links to the CrimeStoppers portal and the DA’s Camera Partnership Program.
The app also provides links to resources about opioid and heroin abuse and addiction, and the heroin epidemic gripping the region and nation; and about underage drinking and the countywide “It’s On Us” anti-sexual assault campaign Hoovler launched in 2015.
The DA said his responsibility goes beyond prosecuting crime, but also to “forge a strong relationship with our communities.” After spending three years reaching out to public officials and residents to learn their concerns about crime, the smartphone app is “the next evolution in that community-outreach strategy.”
