KINGSTON – A Marine stationed at the Stewart Air Guard Based in
New Windsor pled guilty in Ulster County Court on Friday to charges of
burglary and sexual abuse, both as violent felonies.

Lance Corporal Kevin Guerrero, 20, broke into three off-campus SUNY New
Paltz student residences on September 6, 2016 and attempted to sexually
assault the female students while they were asleep.

District Attorney Holley Carnright said Guerrero’s behavior “violated
all expectations of safety, civility and privacy which our student population
should enjoy.”

The DA said a case of this nature committed by someone with minimal ties
to the community is not commonly seen by his office.

He credited the work of the New Paltz Police department for cracking the
case in a very short period of time.

Guerrero will be sentenced on June 14.

Special Victims Bureau Chief Catherine Van Loan is handling the case for
the district attorney’s office. Guerrero is represented by Mariann
Connolly of the Ulster County Public Defender’s Office.
