Wendel

KINGSTON – It took 15 minutes for an Ulster County Court jury to
convict Wawarsing resident Michael Wendel of criminal contempt as a misdemeanor.
Wendel violated an order of protection, which had been issued for County Comptroller Elliot Auerbach and his family by Judge Kevin Hunt in Town of Shawangunk.
The contempt occurred when Wendel aggressively approached Auerbach in Wawarsing Town Hall in the Village of Ellenville. He stood within inches of Auerbach with a camera and made statements to the comptroller of a harassing and taunting nature.
When sentenced next month, Wendel could be sentenced to up to one year
in jail.
