NEW PALTZ – The woman, who has served as acting regional director of the State Department of Environmental Conservation since last June, has been appointed to that permanent post.
Kelly Turturro will be responsible for the region which covers the counties of Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester.
She began her career with DEC in 2006 as a senior attorney and was promoted to regional attorney in May 2015.  Prior to working with DEC, Turturro was an associate counsel for the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation.
She holds a BA in political science from Le Moyne College and her JD Cum Laude from Pace University School of Law. She was admitted to the New York State Bar in March 2002.
She and her husband, Michael, live in New Paltz with their daughter.
