Woman charged with falsifying information when purchasing weapon

SAUGERTIES – A Town of Saugerties woman was arrested on a felony charge of offering a false instrument for filing as a felony and misdemeanor unsafe storage of a firearm.
Jamie Lynn Gardecki, 33, allegedly purchased a shotgun by falsifying information on a federal ATF form which must be completed before any purchase of a firearm. She did not disclose information about her own past criminal history, enabling her to buy the weapon.
It was also alleged that she was aware of the criminal history of Tyrell Schleede, with whom she lived, and knew because of his criminal history, was not permitted to have access to firearms. Despite that she made no efforts to keep the shotgun away from Schleede.
On February 17, police arrested Schleede for discharging 13 rounds from the shotgun through the front living room, bedroom and kitchen windows and front door of their residence. At least one round fired through the front of the residence traveled across Route 32 striking a gas station.
At the time, he was charged with criminal mischief , criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), discharging a firearm over a public highway, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a residence.
On Wednesday, March 15, Gardecki was charged with her purchase of the shotgun as well as for failure to prevent Schleede from obtaining access to the firearm and ammunition.
