TOWN OF ULSTER – A 48-year-old
woman, who was a passenger in a car, was killed minutes before 6 p.m.
on Wednesday when the car in which she was riding was struck from behind,
forced into the opposite lane and struck by a GMC vehicle.

Town of Ulster Police investigated the incident in which Helen Fogarty
of Saugerties was killed.

They said Alton Mitchell, 26, of Lake Katrine, was driving a 2001 Ford

The impact forced his car into the northbound lane and that was struck
by the 2003 GMC truck driven by Anthony Bell, 49, of Saugerties.

Fogarty was pronounced dead at the scene. Breitung was transported to
Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley Hospital with non-life threatening
injuries. Bell was treated at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck
and released. Mitchell was not injured.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
