POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Poughkeepsie man on a charge of welfare fraud.
Michael McGinness, 41, allegedly received approximately $35,527 in SNAP benefits between February 2009 and September 2014. He is accused of stealing the food stamp benefits by concealing the fact that he had other outside income, something that would have made him ineligible for them.
McGinness was charged with felony welfare fraud and was released on his own recognizance pending a future court appearance.
