MONTICELLO – One of the cuts in Governor Cuomo’s executive budget is $65 million slashed from lines that include daycare and foster care.
Sullivan County’s Health and Family Services Commissioner, Joseph Todora, told county legislators the county could take a big hit.
“What that means for Sullivan County is that there is $60,000 that I have to cover, probably out of our Title 20 money,” Todora said.  Title 20, under the federal Social Security Law, is discretionary money the county can use as it sees fit.
The impact on Sullivan County could be significant, particularly for children.
“Sixty thousand dollar cut to us means that some kids may go without.”
Todora is asking the county legislature to go on record calling for state lawmakers to restore the $65 million to the state budget.
