NEWBURGH – Repairs to tracks that were damaged during Tuesday’s derailment by a CSX freight train on the Newburgh – New Windsor border, are expected to be completed soon with rail operations to resume.
River Road through the area of the derailment remained closed to traffic and was expected to remain that way for at least another 48 hours while repairs and preparations are completed.
Businesses located adjacent to the site are being allowed access to the area so they can resume operations.
All of the rail cars involved in the incident have either been re-railed or removed from the site or are being staged near the scene for future removal.
